Hi people, I'm Ninji, a 20 year old female slider turtle. I know that you're thinking that 20 years is pretty old but not for us turtles. With good care, I can easily live to be 35 or older. I can be kept with fish as long as they are big enough that I won't be tempted to eat them. Fish can also help keep my water clean by eating my left overs and clean water is super important to my health. Even with a strong filter, my water should be changed often and I should have a lot to swim in, at least 50 gallons.
Like all reptiles, I love warm weather and need a place to bask in the sun, um...well, heat lamp. Pet stores have special floating islands for turtles that you can easily add to your aquarium set up. I like water plants because they make it feel like outdoors, give me a place to hide, and also make for a good snack. Variety is important in my diet, I can't just live off commercial turtle food, so please research about my needs.
