Humane Education for Children

Volunteering

Volunteers are at the heart of making Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) compassionate and caring.  Volunteers allow us to achieve excellence in all that we do for the animals, making the community a better place for both people and pets. As a private, non-profit organization, we rely heavily on the assistance of our dedicated and hard-working volunteers.

Shelter volunteers who work directly with animals must be at least 12 years of age, must train and work with their own adult at all times until they’re age 17, and must commit to an average of 2 hours per week for a minimum of 50 hours in a 6-month period.  Volunteers work side-by-side with shelter staff, and provide needed manpower for those programs that improve the quality of life for shelter animals.

Service Projects

HSPPR needs volunteers of all ages to help animals in our community.  Donating your time, talents, and energy is a great way to support the programs and services we offer for animals and people in our area.  Children often want to help the animals, but are either too young to be regular volunteers or plan to be involved in a short-term project.  There are many ways to help homeless animals other than working directly with them at the shelter.  Please contact us to discuss your ideas and how they might meet our needs at the shelter.  Click here for lots of creative ways you can help homeless, lost, or injured animals in our community.
