To meet this need, our Foster Care Program temporarily places these animals in private homes until they may be adopted. This volunteer-based program provides a nurturing environment for animals so they may mature, heal, socialize and be adopted.

An animal could need foster care for any of these reasons:

  • Underage kittens and puppies without their moms
  • Pregnant or nursing dogs and cats
  • Medical cases such as recovery from amputation or heart worm treatment
  • Dogs and cats needing some extra time and TLC to recover from respiratory illness
  • Underweight dogs
  • Behaviorally challenged dogs that may be a little shy or need some socializing
