Dog Owner Charged With Cruelty to Animals; HSPPR Caring for Severely Injured Yorkie
Update: Right now Tiffany is not available for adoption. This case is ongoing and it will be up to the courts to decide what happens next.
Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region Animal Law Enforcement is investigating a case involving a severely injured dog. Tiffany the Yorkie is currently receiving medical care in our veterinary clinic, and a family member is being charged with cruelty to animals after Tiffany presented to a local veterinarian with extensive injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. Abuse is suspected.
We took Tiffany into our care Thursday, February 21, 2019. A local veterinarian was concerned about her injuries and called us so Animal Law Enforcement could investigate. Radiographs and bloodwork show Tiffany has a pelvic fracture and significant bruising on her abdomen and neck. Our veterinary team is administering pain medication and is closely monitoring her condition. According to our veterinarians, Tiffany’s prognosis is good and we hope to see a full recovery.
