Homeless Dogs Flown to Colorado From Puerto Rico
Pueblo Animal Services and Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region took in 16 dogs from animal shelters in Puerto Rico devastated by Hurricane Maria. 13 dogs were transferred to PAS and 3 dogs went to HSPPR. The dogs flew to Denver from overcrowded animal shelters in areas hit hard by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Humane Society of the United States reached out to our friends at Dumb Friends League in Denver to coordinate with other local shelters that could help care for these animals. There are seven local shelters working together to lend a hand.
We are still getting all of the dogs processed. As with all dogs transferred to us, they will receive necessary medical and behavior evaluations and we hope to have them available for adoption in a few days. We will be updating information on our Facebook pages to keep everyone posted, so stay tuned! In the meantime, there are dozens of other homeless pets at our shelters waiting for homes.
