Camp Whiskers & Wags: 2017 Summer Edition

Shelter PALS

Age Group: Kids entering 2nd & 3rd grades in Fall, 2017

Cost: $180   

Date: June 5-9 (M-F)

Time: 9am - 3pm daily

Campers will learn all about programs at HSPPR that help homeless animals. Daily activities and games focus on ways to be respectful, responsible, safe, healthy, and positive around pets.

Animal Friends

Age Group: Kids entering 4th & 5th grades in Fall, 2017

Cost: $180    

Date: June 12-16 (M-F)

           July 17-21 (M-F)

           July 31-August 4 (M-F)

Time: 9am - 3pm daily

Campers hear from our experts in Foster Care, Animal Law Enforcement, and Surgery Center. Mornings will be spent socializing cats and clicker training dogs, while the afternoon brings investigations into invertebrates and mock surgeries. 

Humane Heroes

Age Group: Kids entering 6th & 7th grades in Fall, 2017

Cost: $180  

Date:  June 19-23 (M-F)

            July 24-28 (M-F)

Time: 9am - 3pm daily

These older campers will continue with clicker training, practicing with both dogs and cats, and trying their hand at dog agility.  Lessons look further into animal welfare issues, like cat overpopulation and neglect and cruelty investigations.  Campers will practice pet first aid and CPR.

Paws & Picasso

Age Group: 11-13-year-olds

Cost: $150

Date:  July 10-12 (M, Tu, W)

Time: 9am - 3pm daily

Campers will get daily drawing lessons from a professional art teacher, leaving plenty of time for observing, sketching, and interacting with the pets at the shelter. Students will decorate an art journal to keep.

Animal Super-Heroes

Age Group: 8-12-year-olds

Cost: $180

Date:  June 26-30 (M-F)

Time: 9am - 3pm daily

Campers will find out about amazing animals and amazing people who help animals. There are pets with tales of daring rescues or ones that keep us safe; animals with super powers or ones who have survived all odds. Learn about the animals who are the biggest or the strongest and the ones that have the strangest characteristics. 

Kind Kids

Age Group: 5-6-year-olds

Cost: $85 

Date:  July 13-14 (Th&F)  

Time: 9am - 3pm daily

Children will get an early introduction to life at an animal shelter.  Through activities, games,  and critter interactions, campers practice kind and respectful actions toward animals.

 

Camp Whiskers & Wags fosters a respect for animals through engaging activities intended to develop an understanding of the feelings of others, cultivate knowledge, and encourage compassionate and responsible actions.

For detailed information, please review our parent packet. Campers are responsible for bringing their own lunch and snack for the day. This camp is not recommended for children with severe allergies to animals or hay. The shelter facility uses peanut butter in enrichment activities for dogs.

The following items are required by our center before a child is admitted into the Camp Whiskers & Wags program:

  1. Camp Registration Form
  2. Waiver and Release of Liability
  3. Child Release Authorization Form
  4. Current Immunization Record

Your child will not be allowed to participate in camp activities unless ALL forms are completed and turned in prior to the day of camp. Thank you for your cooperation. Due to preparation and staffing costs, all camp fees are non-refundable. Please note, the return of  the forms above does not constitute registration. Your child is not registered until you receive email confirmation of payment.

We're sorry, but due to licensing regulations, children cannot be younger than 5 or older than 13 during camp.
