Second Chance Campaign

HSPPR ConstructionSomeone has been digging in our backyard! In September, Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region broke ground on a much-needed expansion and renovation of the Colorado Springs facility. The plans call for a 16,000-foot addition on the north side of the building. There will be a new cat adoption area to showcase the cats’ great personalities, a new receiving area to house lost dogs and cats and make it easier for people to find their lost pets, space for behavior rehabilitation, and isolation areas to help prevent the spread of disease. So please pardon our muddy paws during construction, the mess will be worth it!

Since the construction of our current facility, which began in 1997, HSPPR has cared for more than a quarter of a million animals. We’ve also experienced a nearly 30% increase in the average length of stay for animals in our care. We have reached the limits of the care and services we are able to provide in our current facility. The support from our donors to give us the tools necessary to care for more animals than ever before has been overwhelming. So far, we’ve raised $7.2 million of our $8.3 million.
