Get to know me

** A behavior consultation with HSPPR behavior staff is required prior to adoption **
Hello, I’m Orion!

About me: I was found as a stray, so there’s not a lot known about me. I do have a friend that I’m bonded to, Pan. He makes me feel safe and happy, so we need to be adopted together. Living on the streets made me very afraid of people and new situations. It’s taken me a while to get used to living with people again, but with some patience and quiet, I’ve come out of my shell a little bit. I’m still a little standoffish, but I’ll sit in the same room with my people, even if I don’t want them to pet me.

My Favorite Things: I love to play! I’ll play with Pan or with toys, I’m not picky. I like little mice to chase around. Chasing Pan is pretty fun as well. I like watching birds and squirrels outside the window and smelling all the good outside smells. I’m still not 100% sure about people, so I like to nap in my safe place, currently it’s next to a bed, under a comforter. Despite all of this, I’m very curious about the world around me, and I’ll check out everything in the house.

Special Info: Because Orion is still afraid of people, he’ll do best in a quiet, child-free home. He will sit in the room with you, but as soon as you move, he’ll run off. He likes to sit on the steps because he can see everything going on and be with everyone, but just set off a bit.

Scam Alert

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has experienced a scam in which people missing their pets receive phone calls from someone pretending to represent our shelter and requesting payment over the phone. Please be aware that HSPPR will never request payment over the phone or through Venmo before returning your pet. We will also never ask you to send verification codes or mention anything about pet trackers on Instagram, WhatsApp, or other messaging platforms. If you receive a suspicious call, do not share any personal information. Instead, visit our Admissions office and speak with a staff member in person to verify any claims.

Woof, we’re having technical difficulties!

Unfortunately we can’t display our adoptable pets right now due to a technical issue. Don’t worry – all our furry friends are safe and waiting to meet you at the shelter! Please visit us in person to find your perfect match.
