Get to know me

Meet Shell! This energetic girl loves people and going for adventures! She is food and toy motivated, and has been responsive to clicker training. She knows “kennel,” “sit,” “shake,” and “lay down.” Shell is crate trained and potty trained, and knows to ring a bell to go outside. She has lived with a cat previously, and would avoid them. She has not lived with children, and may do best with older children due to her high energy levels. She has jumped out of car windows before and knows how to open them, so proper safety precuations and management during carrides will be important for her. Shell has mixed history with other dogs, and has shown resource guarding tendencies over food. She would benefit from working with a qualified trainer, and may do best as the only dog in the home. This quirky girl likes to “walk herself” and will pick up her leash while she walks. Despite her size, she would love to curl up in your lap! She is looking for an active and patient home that can support her exercise and enrichment needs!

Scam Alert

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has experienced a scam in which people missing their pets receive phone calls from someone pretending to represent our shelter and requesting payment over the phone. Please be aware that HSPPR will never request payment over the phone or through Venmo before returning your pet. We will also never ask you to send verification codes or mention anything about pet trackers on Instagram, WhatsApp, or other messaging platforms. If you receive a suspicious call, do not share any personal information. Instead, visit our Admissions office and speak with a staff member in person to verify any claims.

Woof, we’re having technical difficulties!

Unfortunately we can’t display our adoptable pets right now due to a technical issue. Don’t worry – all our furry friends are safe and waiting to meet you at the shelter! Please visit us in person to find your perfect match.
