Get to know me

I am not currently at the shelter because I’m growing big and strong in a foster home! Staff thinks I will be ready by Mid August.

Skoot and Mimi are a bonded brother-and-sister duo who are thriving in foster care and looking for a patient home where they can continue to grow together.

Skoot is the outgoing sibling. He’s adventurous, curious, and becoming more affectionate every day. He loves to play, happily accepts pets (especially around his face and belly), and enjoys interacting with his people. While he’s still getting comfortable with being held for long periods, his playful and social personality shines through.

Mimi is the quieter half of the pair. She’s still a bit shy and prefers to observe before joining in, but she’s making steady progress. She often watches Skoot interact with people and clearly wants to be part of the fun—she just needs a little extra time to build her confidence. With patience and gentle encouragement, she’s continuing to come out of her shell.

Together, Skoot and Mimi love to wrestle, play, and explore their surroundings before curling up together for a nap. They will do best with adopters who understand that trust takes time and are willing to let them settle in at their own pace. Watching these two gain confidence together has been incredibly rewarding, and they’re sure to bring lots of joy to the family lucky enough to welcome them home.

You can sign up to pre-adopt me by placing a $50 choice hold. This is a non-refundable fee that does not go towards my adoption fee, but it does give you the first opportunity to adopt me. Shelter staff will contact you when I’m ready to go home with my new family! To place a choice hold, you can either come into the shelter or call us at 719-302-8707; you may wait to speak with a customer service representative or leave a voicemail. Choice holds are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis and only one choice hold can be placed per animal.

Once I am old enough to go home, I will have to be adopted at the shelter without a visit. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to visit while I’m in the foster home as it’s a lot of stress on me to be transported back and forth to the shelter for visits, which makes me more susceptible to getting sick. I want to be healthy for our new life together!

Scam Alert

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has experienced a scam in which people missing their pets receive phone calls from someone pretending to represent our shelter and requesting payment over the phone. Please be aware that HSPPR will never request payment over the phone or through Venmo before returning your pet. We will also never ask you to send verification codes or mention anything about pet trackers on Instagram, WhatsApp, or other messaging platforms. If you receive a suspicious call, do not share any personal information. Instead, visit our Admissions office and speak with a staff member in person to verify any claims.

Woof, we’re having technical difficulties!

Unfortunately we can’t display our adoptable pets right now due to a technical issue. Don’t worry – all our furry friends are safe and waiting to meet you at the shelter! Please visit us in person to find your perfect match.
