Community Raises $7M for HSPPR’s Veterinary Clinic Expansion Project
February 24, 2023 Colorado Springs, CO – Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) has officially reached their goal of raising $7M to renovate and expand their on-site veterinary clinic.
Fundraising for the special capital campaign began in 2021 and concluded at the beginning of 2023, with funds coming from generous long-time donors and animal lovers, corporate donors, and foundations who support HSPPR’s mission to help animals in our community receive the care they need. The way in which the final dollars for the project came in seemed especially fitting, given how the campaign started. An individual wished to leave a legacy for years to come by including an extraordinary lead gift through her estate at the time of her passing to start the project. Another HSPPR supporter did the same, with this latest legacy gift fulfilling the project’s remaining balance and completing the campaign.
“We are incredibly proud to unveil HSPPR’s renovated and expanded veterinary clinic that will allow us to help even more homeless, injured, and sick pets than ever before,” said HSPPR President & CEO, Duane Adams.
The veterinary clinic has been expanded from the previous 5,300 square-feet space to the now renovated 8,000 square-feet clinic. HSPPR’s highly qualified veterinarians and certified veterinary technicians now have more space to perform spay/neuter surgeries, provide routine care, and work on emergency cases for homeless animals that come into the shelter. The new space will allow for a 35% increase in veterinary procedures.
Construction began in April of 2022 and veterinary staff moved into the new space in December of 2022.
