Nils is slowly learning that people are okay. He really does love being pet, but he doesn’t want you to know just how much he’s enjoying it! He may not be an outgoing people-person, but he is definitely a cat’s cat. Nils loves to run and play with the resident cats, so having another kitty friend may be a great fit for him.
Nils is a little quirky and may occasionally give you a gentle nibble when you stop petting him—as if to say, “Excuse me, why did you stop? I wasn’t finished!” He’s working on learning that nibbling is not the best way to ask for attention.
Nils would do best in a home where he can take his time warming up, have his boundaries respected, and build trust at his own pace. Once he’s comfortable, you’ll get to see the sweet, playful cat hiding underneath that slightly weird exterior—and weird is okay!
I am not currently at the shelter because I’m growing big and strong in a foster home! *Staff thinks I will be ready by early September.*
You can sign up to pre-adopt me by placing a $50 choice hold. This is a non-refundable fee that does not go towards my adoption fee, but it does give you the first opportunity to adopt me. Shelter staff will contact you when I’m ready to go home with my new family! To place a choice hold, you can either come into the shelter or call us at 719-302-8707; you may wait to speak with a customer service representative or leave a voicemail. Choice holds are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis and only one choice hold can be placed per animal.
Once I am ready to go home, I will have to be adopted at the shelter without a visit. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to visit while I’m in the foster home as it’s a lot of stress on me to be transported back and forth to the shelter for visits, which makes me more susceptible to getting sick. I want to be healthy for our new life together!
