Youth Programs

If we are to save the animals and ultimately this planet, then we must start by educating the hearts and minds of children.

MegaphoneYouth programs and tours will be unavailable November 12 – December 31, 2018. We are not accepting any new requests during this time. We will resume taking requests in January of 2019.

Our mission to build a compassionate community where animals and people are cared for and valued extends beyond our day-to-day shelter operations. When we show children how to be responsible and compassionate, they are empowered to set a positive example.

Our wide variety of programs, from classroom presentations to tours to day camps, encourage respect for people, animals, and the environment, and recognize the interdependence of all living things. Animals and kids - we are better together!

Class Projects

Due to the large number of requests we receive and limited staff resources, we are unable to assist with school research papers, interviews, class projects or job shadowing. Statistics can be found online in our annual report at hsppr.org/accountability.

Volunteering

Due to the nature of volunteering at a large animal shelter, we do have minimum age requirements and minimum time commitments. For more information about volunteering requirements, please visit hsppr.org/volunteer.
